Description
BAM15 – 50mg Capsules (30 Count) – Research Use Only (RUO)
BAM15 (chemical name: N⁵,N⁶-bis(2-fluorophenyl)-[1,2,5]oxadiazolo[3,4-b]pyrazine-5,6-diamine; formula: C₁₆H₁₀F₂N₆O) is a synthetic small-molecule mitochondrial protonophore uncoupler. Unlike traditional uncouplers, BAM15 selectively targets the inner mitochondrial membrane to increase proton permeability, dissipating the proton gradient and uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis without significantly depolarizing the plasma membrane.
Key areas of research interest include:
- Enhancement of mitochondrial respiration and energy expenditure, leading to increased nutrient oxidation (fats and glucose) in preclinical models.
- Protection against diet-induced obesity, reversal of fat accumulation, and improvement in insulin sensitivity and glycemic control without altering food intake, lean body mass, or inducing hyperthermia/toxicity.
- Reduction of hepatic steatosis (liver fat), inflammatory lipids, oxidative stress, and inflammation, with potential benefits in models of metabolic syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD/NASH), and sarcopenic obesity.
- Additional effects in animal studies on muscle function preservation, antioxidant activity, AMPK pathway activation, and protection against conditions such as ischemia-reperfusion injury, sepsis, and age-related metabolic decline.
This product is supplied as oral capsules, each containing 50 mg of high-purity BAM15, for a total of 30 capsules per bottle. It is formulated specifically for laboratory and preclinical research applications.
